In these strange days of distance and resistance, I’ve been looking to artists who bring me inspiration and perspective for sustenance and nourishment. Knowing that so many people I care about are in need of that kind of encouragement, I started an interview & conversation series with some of my favorite artists in various genres to share some of their art with you, and offer a bit of grounded hope in a hard and turbulent time.
When I began making the list of folks I’d like to talk with, I was astounded by how quickly it grew, but also moved by the abundance of inspiring artists in my circle of friends. I quickly realized that I will never have time to talk with them all, and that is a beautiful problem to have, as problems go.
Given that most of the artists I know are suddenly surprised to be off the road, I try to provide some way to support the artist I’m interviewing during each conversation, whether that is a ‘digital tip jar’ or a way to purchase their art (music, poetry, photography, etc.). If you would like to support my work in a time when my calendar has suddenly cleared, thank you. Here’s how you can do that. This series is about supporting my friends. Regardless, please enjoy these interviews and be nourished by the insight and encouragement these artists can offer.
After 25 episodes, in the midst of worldwide protests, it feels like my energy and attention are being called elsewhere, so I have laid down this project, though the archive of it will remain here. I hope you will be nourished by these conversations, as I have been.
