Ireland Retreat with Gareth Higgins
May 16th – 24th, 2016
Belfast, northern Ireland
Join Gareth Higgins, David LaMotte, and a small group of others for a ten-day retreat in northern Ireland. We will split our time between staying in 400-year-old thatched cottages in Mourne country (pictured below), and a lovely old country house by the sea outside Belfast, with a group of friends old and new, enjoying the landscape on amazing walks, hearing music and stories, meeting locals, experiencing the peace process in meeting people directly involved in activism and change, and getting to know the culture of northern Ireland, immersed in Celtic culture ancient and new. Great food, inspiring art, and beautiful journeys on foot will form the heart of this soulfully unique and transforming experience. This will be an eight-day experience – for 25 guests only – that might just last for the rest of your life.
Gareth Higgins is an Irish writer & storyteller, retreat leader & festival organizer, who was born in Belfast in 1975, grew up during the northern Ireland Troubles, and now lives in North Carolina. He writes and speaks about Celtic spirituality, cinema, art, and the power of dreams, peace and making justice, and how to take life seriously without believing your own propaganda. Founding director of the Wild Goose Festival and of Movies & Meaning, he leads peacemaking, storytelling, and personal transformation retreats to his homeland, northern Ireland, each year.
