Esaze (the band made up of David LaMotte and Chinobay and sometimes other backing musicians) has a new single! The song and video are called “Kirungi” (pronounced chee-LOON-gee). The video was shot and edited by Julius Ssentongo, and it won the Bronze Award in the Music Video category of the 2026 Global Music Awards. They wrote and recorded the song and video in September of 2025 in Kampala, Uganda, with a 7-piece African band.
The song and video dropped on April 1, 2026. Here is the official video:
There are also alternate versions of the video, including an animated “Lyrics” version that includes translations into English for all of the other four languages in the song and video.
