If we are going to find our way forward together, we have to know each other. We don’t have to agree. In fact, we may actively oppose each other’s goals, especially when the words or actions of some neighbors may put others at risk.
Even as we live in that tension, though, we need to stop dehumanizing each other, and do the hard, essential, and sometimes joyful work of really knowing the people around us. That’s what real peacemaking looks like. And, yes, we do need to find our way forward together. If we’re not together, it’s not forward.
That’s what I want to say to my neighbors. So I designed a banner, 3′ x 8′, and my friend Kenny at Kudzu Printing made it for me, and my son and I nailed it to the front of my house on Christmas Eve. It has led to some great conversations with my neighbors.
Several folks have asked where to get one, so I’m putting the art here to download for free.
To download the art to have your own printed, click here, and print it wherever you like. Or you can get in touch with Kudzu and they can print one at whatever size you like and ship it to you.
Thanks for showing up.
