LaMotte’s first album in a decade offers twelve new songs played by three dozen musicians from six continents. A fusion of cultural influences, from blues to bluegrass and from Latin to African, are mixed together by LaMotte and his two co-producers, Chris Rosser and Tom Prasada-Rao, to create an aural travelogue that mirrors LaMotte’s own geographical journey in the last ten years. The songs are also informed by his personal journey—becoming a father, living and working around the world, and exploring his own capacity for positive impact in questions of justice and peace.
Featuring musicians like Tim O’Brien, Ed King (Lynyrd Skynyrd), Graham Sharp and Nicky Sanders (Steep Canyon Rangers), Kinobe, Michael Manring, Kat Williams, Lyric, Debrissa McKinney, Rhoda Weaver, Perla Batalla (Leonard Cohen), Ian Ridenhour, Diali Cissokho (Kaira Ba), BJ Leiderman, Beth Wood, Pat Wictor (Brother Sun) and many, many more, this album has been worth the wait.
David will be celebrating the release of The Other Way Around album with a special concert at Diana Wortham Theatre in Asheville, NC on September 2nd, 2016. He will be accompanied by a large backing band which will include Leeda “Lyric” Jones, Ian Ridenhour, Tom Prasada-Rao, and BJ Leiderman, among many others.
