I’m excited to officially announce a new musical collaboration with my dear friend Chinobay. Esaze (pronounced ‘ay-SAHZ-ay’) means “crossing” in Chinobay’s native language of Luganda. We will sometimes play as a duo (coming up on August 7, 2026 at the White Horse Black Mountain, for instance), and sometimes as a larger band (as we did in Kampala, Uganda in February). And we are hoping and planning to record a new album together in Nairobi, Kenya in December.
In the meantime, we released a single in April, and a music video to go with it. “Kirungi,” which means “beauty,” is streaming on all major platforms, and was recently featured on the world’s leading African music syndicated radio show, Afropop Worldwide.

We are hoping to record a full-length album in Nairobi over the winter, so stay tuned — more to come!
