David will be performing a free concert at @whitehorseblackmtn today at 5:00 pm. If you’re in the area and in need of community and encouragement, stop by. There will be an opportunity to donate to local relief organizations if you’re interested and able.

Two things — 1) BeLoved is swamped with volunt

Two things —

1) BeLoved is swamped with volunteers today. It’s a good problem as problems go, but maybe turn elsewhere and try again tomorrow.

2) there is a couple, their son and their cat that really need a place to stay for a while here in Black Mountain. They were flooded out and the place really isn’t safe to live in, but they have nowhere else to go. They won’t be able to pay mich if anything. If you have an offer, please let me know. You can see the water line on the door.

This is true of many people, of course, but I think it’s good to love the people in front of us.

On the plane in San Antonio, finally headed home.

On the plane in San Antonio, finally headed home. Folks on Texas have been so supportive. Raised money for Presbyterian Disaster Assistance at my concert at St. Philip in Houston, and at SCRAPCE. PMA folx at Mo Ranch sent me money to buy needed things and I bought $600 worth of stuff and a duffel bag on the way to the airport this morning.

The Delta gate agent looked the other way that my bags were overweight, and I’m now getting ready to fly. Lots of tears today, mostly prompted by kindness, sometimes by heartbreak. So many people have reached out, and I’m grateful, even if I am very slow in responding.

The Asheville airport is now open again, and the highways between the airport and my house. Still no power or water there, but the cell signal is getting better, and downtown Black Mountain now has power. It seems likely that we will have it too in the next few days.

The things I am bringing home are from a list of needed things published by Black Mountain Presbyterian Church yesterday, but they have reached a point that financial donations are really best.

There are so many stories of folks working hard to care for each other. So much love.

Wonderful weekend with kind and committed folks in Northfield, Minnesota. Now heading home to get ready for two really fun shows this week — the Martha Bassett show at the fabulous Reeves Theater in Elkin, NC this Thursday, and then my hometown room — the White Horse Black Mountain on Friday.
