On April 9, 2011 a group of people concerned about the course of the seemingly endless “War on Terror” gathered to hear impressive speakers, including several veterans, an active duty soldier, activists and an investigative journalist, bring perspective to the current state of affairs. A live orchestra performed between presenters, and excerpts of speeches from Dr. King and Dwight Eisenhower were offered by actors, speaking in character.
I had the honor of speaking last and trying to tie things up. I followed an excerpt from a Dr. King speech in which he said “we are always on the verge of being mesmerized by uncertainty.” That was fortunate for me, because it was precisely the danger I wanted to address.
